What is Self-Esteem?
Self esteem is how you look upon yourself in terms of your job, your activities, your association with your peers, your family and your place in the society. In short, self-esteem refers to how you value yourself.
It is really the picture you have in yourself. Having high self esteem means you have a high regard for yourself, while low self esteem means you recognize no value of yourself.
- People with high self esteem are typically people who are happy and confident. People with low self esteem or low self worth have very little or no self confidence at all.
- A person who has low self esteem is fragile and can be easily influenced by people who take advantage of other people’s frailty.
Who gets low self-esteem?
Since self esteem is primarily gained from childhood, most people who have low self esteem are those who have retained bad memories of their growing years.
How do build Self-Esteem?
- Being Happy for who you are
- Unafraid to take challenges
- Accept mistakes and learn from them
- No need to prove oneself to others
- See the beauty in you
- Learn to let go
- Learn to stop comparing
- Teach your inner voice
Can I change my Self-Esteem?
Unless you train yourself to rein your emotions and have a different way of viewing things, self-esteem can be exceedingly fragile. Self-esteem can be improved in the following ways:
* Know your strengths.
* Acknowledge areas for improvement.
* Don’t take things too personally.
* Look in to things with a detached approach.
* Set your goals.
* Laugh when you do mistakes.
* Remember “no one goes perfect to the grave”
Do you always speak negatively about yourself?

Don’t apologize for your actions
Each man and woman is unique and they are varied in terms of goals, capacity, purpose, opportunities presented, threshold for risk, etc.
Everybody has the drive for success, so why aren’t we all better off? The answer regrettably is not outside. It is because we stop or deny ourselves from success. It might sound strange, but most of the people decide not to succeed.
Listen to your impression about your self – Inferiority and Superiority!
Have you ever felt that you are not worthy of any praise? Have you ever tried to listen to what your think about yourself? Such thoughts are the cornerstones of a negative attitude.
With basic self-awareness and a quite a bit of practice in concentrating on how to best use the better out of a seemingly bad situations you can develop the habit of self talking yourself positively and you can make yourself feel better. It is as easy as one two three.
Attitude = Self-Esteem
Self-esteem is pretty closely tied to the concepts of self-worth and competence. Self-esteem is pretty much a reflection of attitude. It is an attitude towards looking in to oneself, the potentials, and ability to face challenges etcetera.
Cultivate a “YOU” attitude rather than a “ME”
* Most of us perceive beggars as thieves rather than understanding their disposition as needy humans.
* You tend to believe that the whole world should pay you a lot.
Well, in reality you need to just differentiate between trying to survive and being too selfish. Give a little to the needy with that bit of love, you will feel great.
