Addiction is a very serious problem that affects the community as a whole apart from the individual self destruction. This is the reason why it is popularly known as a social evil. Addiction is a permanent condition which requires complete abstinence for giving it up completely. Addiction can be either physical or psychological or both.

The primary thing in helping a person combating addiction is to identify, intervene and send him to a referral center where he would be treated and rehabilitated.

Identifying an alcoholic or a drug dependent person is not an easy process. However, there are few warning signs which indicate the presence of alcohol or drug addiction which would help us in identifying the addicts.

Family behavior:

3)      Breaking rules

4)      Secretiveness

5)      Sudden disregard for physical appearance

6)      Requests for money that are out of the ordinary

7)      Money/items disappearing from the house

School behaviors:

1)      Negative attitude

2)      Frequent absences

3)      Truancy

4)      Discipline problems

5)      Sudden changes in work or school attendance and quality of work or grades.

6)      Giving up familiar activities like sports, homework or hobbies.

The best way to give up addiction is to attain a will power that drives you to kick off the habit. Firstly find an addiction treatment center which would help you have adequate treatment medically and psychologically. If you can’t find a Deaddiction center, then locate a center that offers medical and out-patient counseling.

The addiction treatment center has a group of doctors, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, etc. All of them work as a multidisciplinary team to help you come out of the habit first and put your career and relationships back on track.

The treatment comprises of providing re-educative lectures, conducting group therapy sessions and offering individual, marital and family counseling.

Rehabilitation mainly aims at reconstructing the lost available support systems in your life. If you are a school student, then this procedure would help you to get back to school and concentrate on your studies. And this applies for college students too.

For people who are working, then this rehabilitation helps you in getting reinstated in the old job or to find a new one. Whatever it is, it is ultimately your productivity that’s would see the rising slope of your growth curve.

Relationships are one of the things which most of you would have lost because of this addiction and this treatment would help in the reconciliation with your spouse or other family members.
